7: Not ordinary at all

[If you go into the forest today, Vatheonites, you might see a very strange sight.

Sitting on a bench in the forest is one Anthony J. Crowley, though he doesn't remember his name and would probably tell you his name was Crawly if you asked, because that's the only name he remembers. And on his back are two beautiful black wings, perfectly groomed. His sunglasses are perched on the top of his head, and his eyebrows are furrowed, as if he's trying to think of something.]

[He turns on the SFC laying next to him.] ...Yeah. I don't like this at all. Not one bit. Just when I thought that I was just an ordinary guy, and then everyone needs to ruin my day and tell me I'm Fallen...whatever that is. That's just peachy.

[He really does look worried.] I don't know why...I thought I was a good person, really. But why can't I remember who I really am- what I really am? I remember some things, and then I forget them all over again.

I know I'm a snake, somehow, because that could explain the hissing and the eyes...but whoever heard of a snake in human clothing? I don't get it.

[And he buries his head in his hands.] I just want to remember...

[ Nodoka has seen the trend of people forgetting things, and it frightens her - one of her biggest fears was going home and forgetting all the people she loves, but being here and still forgetting them? It all sounds like a kind of torture to her and she doesn't want to even think about it.

Walking through the park, still looking tatty, she comes across Crowley and just... Listens. When he buries his head in her hands she walks over, her throat dry. Crowley has forgotten... Everything? Who he is, where he was... Her. Biting her lip, she reaches out and presses her hand against his lightly. ]

... Crowley-san?

[He flinches against her touch, not expecting it at all, and then turns. That name is familiar somehow, and so is she. But the memories just don't come.]

...Is that my name? Well, I'll forget it in a heartbeat, just you wait.

[ She pulls her hand back with a flinch, watching him with wide eyes. Her hands fall to rest down by her side before she smiles weakly; it's okay, she tells herself. It's not Crowley's fault that he's forgotten, it's the stupid city and it's desire to hurt the people that it drags into it. ]

It's okay. I'll remind you. [ She manages to push a stronger smile onto her lips. ] Yes! We're friends. Good friends.

[He smiles sweetly-he's almost reverted back to the angel he once was.

Friend? That's good. I haven't heard from anyone else that they're my friend...

[And then his look turns to one of worry.] Tell me, am I a bad person? Am I really Fallen, as everyone keeps telling me?

[ Nodoka's eyes are stuck on that smile for a long moment before she snaps out of it and listens. ]

Well, you have a lot of friends! I-I think people have just forgotten a little, that's all.

[ She moves forward again, leaning over and placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. ]

Crowley-san. You're not a bad person - y-you always look after me when I'm sad or scared or hurt, a-and... [ She trails off, looking away. ] And you are... I mean. Y-You have Fallen, but you're not bad!

[He hangs his head, slightly relieved but nevertheless sad about all of this.]

That's good. But I don't understand why people would consider people who have Fallen to be bad. I mean, can't people just judge people on how they act, not what they are?

I don't even remember what Fallen means...
