scaresplants | 13: The unluckiest number

[Well, the curse this week is highly amusing for Crowley. After all, even though he could perfectly sense people's desires on his own, seeing people's thoughts was even better. The SFC turns on and Crowley smirks- his own bubble is filled with dark smoke and something that looks like a little green snake, twirling in its depths.]

Seeing people's true thoughts- isn't that funny to see? I bet a lot of you are hating every moment of this- but not me. This is like my own personal holiday over here.

C'mon, don't be afraid to show your faces. I want to have a good look at what is going on in your minds...

[Crowley chuckles and then presses a button, intent on filtering to one of his best friends in the city.]

Hey, Nodoka. How are you d-

ERROR. NUMBER CANNOT BE LOCATED.

[The demon stares, then presses the button again.]

ERROR. NUMBER CANNOT BE LOCATED.

Hold on. What's going on with you? Are you malfunctioning or something?

ERROR. NUMBER CANNOT BE LOCATED.

[Suddenly, Crowley understands, and his face shows it- his bubble flashes images of him and Nodoka together, and the snake inside matches Crowley's look of utter shock.]

B-but...it couldn't be. Not Nodoka. Not her. N-not now.

[The demon sets his face in determination, completely unaware now that the SFC is still filming him. He presses the filter button again, this time for a different number.]

Um, Aziraphale? Just...can I come over and hang in your place for a while? It'd really he-

ERROR. NUMBER CANNOT BE LOCATED.

No. No no no no. This has to be some kind of bloody joke.

[Crowley presses the button again and again, with numerous "ERROR"s sounding out before he stops. Oh, this is just too cruel. For the first time in a long time, Crowley actually looks scared- almost like a child who has been left behind in a world he doesn't understand. The bubble darkens, and the snake inside curls up in a corner, peering out with shining yellow eyes.]

[After a long pause, Crowley laughs, though it's without any feeling.] So this is what I get when I let myself get attached. I see how it is.

[Another laugh, and a dark look settles on the demon's face. Pictures of him and Aziraphale flash in his bubble, happy and carefree.]

Thanks a lot, Vatheon. I-I wish I had never come here. I'm just your plaything, aren't I? A plaything which you build up and make happy before your tear their whole life apart like a kid tearing down his sandcastle.

[A demonic grin.] And you know what? I don't want to be your damn plaything anymore.

[And with that, the SFC suddenly turns off. People who come by the area later will discover a mangled SFC on the ground, crushed to the point where it doesn't look like an SFC anymore...]

[It'll take a while for him to get in the mood to reply.]

[And there he is, sitting on a branch with his wings out. When he catches sight of the kid, he waves.]

Hey.

[He waves back to Crowley.]

Hey. How are you doing?

It seems kind of pointless to hate a place you have no control over.

What do you want me to do? Sing a song about how wonderful this place is, then?

[Crowley folds his wings around himself, sounding bitter.]

No. I find it interesting that someone who spends his ruining others' lives here can't stand to have the same done to him.

It's simply fascinating.

I don't ruin other people's lives-!

[A hurt pause.] It's my job. I simply push people to do what they naturally do. I don't ruin their lives-they do it themselves.

You want me to come over, Tony?

And the city simply pushes you together with the others it's pulled from whatever universes.

That's true.

Doesn't make it any less better, though.

Sure. It'll help.

[Effy nods, keeping the SFC on just in case something happens. In a matter of ten minutes, she's at Crowley's door, knocking a few times.]

It's me.

... [He sighs, and attempts to start climbing the tree.]

[... He's not doing too well at it.]

... I said "right now".

[ Meaning you are not the only one who is extremely bitter and hurt. ]

Right now, Crowley, the only thing you need not do is be... rash. This isn't right. But if you are rash, there will be repercussions. Can you say they would've wanted that?

[ His tone isn't taunting. It isn't... anything. Merely neutral. ]

_[shrug.]

Just perspective.

There's plenty. I'll be happy to bring it over.

[ He doesn't even know where to begin on this topic. Two for one. The city dealt a cruel blow this time. ]

[HE IS FACEPALMING OVER HERE DON'T MIND HIM.]

[He stands up, and with a jump he's on the ground, wings fluttering.]

Don't hurt yourself.

[He points towards the door and it opens for her. He's just laying here on his bed, not looking happy. He turns his head towards her as she comes in, though.]

[A sigh. He'll be over in his house hating VAtheon forever, don't mind him.]

As opposed to what, a week in the future?

[But he understands. Naoya and Aziraphale did make up somewhat after the whole "let's kill the angel" thing...]

Rash? I don't know...being rash sounds good at the moment, But I guess you have a point.

[Effy raises an eyebrow at his ...state. This was sad; he looked utterly depressed. Closing the door behind her, she walks over to him.]

Want tea?

[Crowley shrugs.]

Make it if you want-I don't really care.

[His bubble darkens, looking like a cloud full of storms. An image of Effy appears, and the snake spells out "don't leave me" before it all goes away.]/small>

[His smile is predatory- Crowley had a little talk with Medusa earlier, so he's defnitely interested in playing with you when she says so. A demon does what a demon does, after all.]
